Nanosys Technology Required to Achieve the Ultimate in HDR Performance

Las Vegas, NV – January 6, 2016- TCL, one of the top three television makers in the world, chose Nanosys’ QDEF® Quantum Dot technology to bring the ultimate HDR experience to its new flagship Xclusive X1 of premium UltraHD televisions. Nanosys Quantum Dot technology makes High Dynamic Range (HDR) more dynamic by enabling TVs to reproduce pure colors with lifelike brightness using cutting-edge nano-crystal technology. The X1 represents the third generation of Quantum Dot TV products from TCL since 2014.

“Consumers are excited about our Quantum Dot TV products,” said Alex Xiang, Chief Operating Officer, TCL Multimedia. “Nanosys is the recognized leader in quantum dot technology for displays, their unique Quantum Dot film solution enabled us to push the limits of what’s possible with the Xclusive X1 in terms of brightness, color and contrast – bringing consumers the very best HDR viewing experience on the market.”

The TCL X1’s, unique combination of UltraHD resolution, high brightness, vibrant color, deep contrast and power efficiency are made possible by Nanosys’ QDEF Quantum Dot technology, the leading HDR TV technology on the market today.

Inside each X1 is a layer containing trillions of Quantum Dot nano-crystals. These tiny nano-crystals, which are 10,000 times narrower than a human hair, can reproduce any color in the visible spectrum with unmatched brightness and purity. The result is a lifelike image that allows home viewers to experience the content creator’s original intent.

“Rapid adoption of cutting-edge technologies that consumers crave like Quantum Dots and HDR is a great example of the kind of innovation that has made TCL one of the fastest growing consumer electronics brands on the planet,” said Jason Hartlove, CEO of Nanosys. “The X1 is TCL’s third Quantum Dot TV, we look forward to working closely with them to continue to develop exciting new Quantum Dot products.”

The X1 will be on display in the TCL booth at CES, Booth 9829, Central Hall and will ship this spring.
