"One interesting technology you’ll likely see mentioned in connection with LCD TVs is “quantum dots.” The science here gets pretty complex, but what you need to know for TV shopping is that the dots make for brighter, more colorful images, shrinking the performance gap between LCDs and OLEDs. No surprise, then, that nearly all mid- and high-end LCDs use quantum dots, and unless your main concern is a low price, you should definitely look for one of those."
