Nanosys and Quantum Dot Technology at Display Week 2025

There are just a few weeks left until Display Week 2025 kicks off here in Silicon Valley. This year’s event will be held from May 11 to 16 at the San Jose Convention Center and should feature a ton of great Quantum Dot programming! There’s so much going on that we thought it would be helpful to pull together a list of some of our favorite events.

Of course, in addition to all the great talks, Nanosys will be on hand to exhibit the latest Quantum Dot innovations at booth #546. If you haven’t registered yet, you can get a free pass to the exhibits on us by using the following code when you register: nQ42yv4D

The Nanosys booth at Display Week 2025 is easy to locate, just head straight back from the entrance and we are right next to AUO. See also highlighted demos from around the show floor.

The Nanosys booth this year will feature several Quantum Dot display demos including:

  • A Quantum Dot LCD for automotive demo featuring a >110% NTSC QD-LCD under high, 10,000 lux ambient light, showing the value of wide color gamut for challenging automotive environments

  • A look at how QDs enable faster, brighter, better IT displays including

    • Updated 240hz QD LCD vs KSF LCD motion demo collaboration with Blurbusters

    • QD-OLED vs WOLED monitor comparison demo

    • QD-MiniLED notebook display vs tandem OLED comparison demo

  • Learn the difference between a “Pseudo QD” TV and a “FullQD” TV in our QDTV experience demo

  • Color Engineered at Scale: a look at Nanosys parent company Shoei Chemical’s quantum dot mass production capabilities from precise wavelength tunability to high volume precision production to the high quality supply chain for quantum dot components

Please stop by any time or drop us a note if you would like to schedule a time to meet.

Meanwhile, here are our favorite Quantum Dot talks and events at Display Week 2025:

Monday, 5/12

  • 2:40 pm Monday Seminar: QD experts Pete Palomaki and Dr. Seth Coe-Sullivan will explore the past, present and future of Quantum Dots for displays in a 90 minute seminar lecture.

Tuesday, 5/13

  • Tuesday features three hours of talks on emissive Quantum Dot displays (aka QDEL or EL-QLED) starting at 11:10 am with Session 5: EL-QLED 1. This session features talks from TCL, BOE and Hong Kong University on progress and challenges for QDEL technology in displays including breakthroughs in lifetime and cadmium free quantum dots

  • The QDEL story continues in Session 12: EL-QLED II at 2:00pm. This session will feature a talk from Sharp on Ultra-High Resolution QDEL micro displays patented with UV photolithography including impressive results with >3,500 ppi resolution and 120% DCI-P3 color gamut using red, green and blue quantum dots

  • Finally, Session 19: EL-QLED III, a distinguished session, closes the day at 3:40pm with two talks from Samsung Display and an additional one from TCL. The talks in this session focus on ink jet printed QDEL devices with advances in cadmium free blue lifetime and high resolution printing from two of the world’s largest display makers.

Exhibitors

In addition to the great technical talks and seminars, we’re expecting some exciting quantum dot demos across the show floor. While it’s hard to predict exactly what exhibitors—partnered or not—will bring, past experience and this year’s symposium lineup give us a good idea of where to find the coolest QD demos beyond the Nanosys booth. See image above for a map with all of these companies highlighted.

  • Samsung Display (SDC): Last year Samsung showed an incredible QDEL demo at their booth. With multiple planned talks on QDEL for 2025, it will definitely be worth visiting SDC’s booth to see what QD demos they are showing. Expect to see the latest QD-OLED and a glimpse of the future with their Cadmium Free QDEL technology.

  • BOE: BOE’s incredible ADS Pro LCD displays are a great showcase for what’s possible with LCD technology paired with quantum dots. Near-OLED contrast, wide viewing angle and incredible color. Expect to see the latest ADS Pro LCDs and, maybe, a QDEL demonstration based on the papers they are giving in the symposium

  • TCL CSOT: Last year, TCL won a People’s Choice award for their fantastic ink jet printed QDEL notebook display. The company showed an updated version of this panel at CES and will be worth a visit to see the progress they’ve made on QDEL since then.

  • Tianma: Tianma always shows some fantastic automotive displays based on quantum dot technology. Expect to see cutting edge QD-MiniLED with incredible brightness, contrast and color at Tianma’s booth.

  • Innolux: Innolux typically shows some fantastic Quantum Dot Color Conversion (QDCC) on microLED demos at Display Week. Worth a look to see how this technology is progressing.

  • Play Nitride: Last year Play Nitride showed an >200,000 nit QDCC microLED device that was truly impressive. Stop in to see if they’ve pushed it further in 2025.
