CES 2022 Wrap Up

Jan 12, 2022

There goes another CES for the books! As we returned to the event in-person, it was a bit strange this year with limited attendance. Many brands decided to keep their presence at the show virtual only. Those who did physically attend, had a more minimalist approach to their booths.

Nonetheless, quantum dots were still a huge topic with a number of exciting announcements. We welcomed two new brands to team quantum dot as they unveiled the world’s first QD-OLED products, and saw plenty more new QD and miniLED displays. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite quantum dot products from the show and listed them below:

Dell

Dell launched the world’s first QD-OLED monitor, the Alienware 34. This 34” monitor can hit 1,000 nits peak brightness and is DCI-P3 capable. It also reaches 175Hz refresh via DisplayPort, which we think the gamers will love.

Hisense

Hisense expands their U series by adding 12 new quantum dot TVs, including the flagship U9H. Both the U8H and U9H lines feature miniLED and quantum dots for great color while boasting 120Hz refresh rate. Last year’s U8G model was a huge hit and we imagine the U8H will only be better.

LG

In 2021 LG introduced “QNED”, their first lineup of quantum dot TVs. Now in 2022, they expanded that lineup and launched 16 new QNED miniLED products. Similar to last year, they released both 4K and 8K options that will be available in sizes between 55”-86”.

Samsung

Samsung is not slowing down with their QLED models. They kicked off 2022 with 57 new QLED products ranging from 42” to 85” screen sizes. The Neo QLED line gets an upgrade with Shape Adaptive Light Control and increased luminance scale.

2022 Samsung models will also allow users to browse, purchase, and display NFT artworks directly through the TV. This would be especially great on the Frame models!

Sony

In 2013 Sony unveiled their Triluminos displays at CES. This marked the world’s first quantum dot TV. They later went on to focus solely on LCD and OLED products.

Now 9 years later, Sony returns to team quantum dot while marking another world’s first with their new QD-OLED TV. The A95K gives you higher brightness, bolder colors, and perfect blacks- the best of quantum dot and OLED technologies. It’ll be available in 65” and 55” sizes but pricing is still unknown.

TCL

TCL remains a consumer favorite with their advanced displays at a competitive rate. The highlight of their announcement was the XL collection which features a 98” 4K QLED and 85” 8K QLED TV. You can snag the 98” now, for just under $8,000.

We’ll expect to see more details of their lineup and likely a few more products when we get closer to launch this spring.
